Event Invitation: Bloodline

International singer/songwriter Rina Sawayama sings about generational trauma. She sings about queerness. She sings about love, and otherness, and racism, and capitalism.

Through her music, Sawayama explores a wide array of topics, but the one that has stuck with me the most is the aforementioned one: generational trauma. It’s an issue that plagues a lot of Asian households, and as an Asian-American myself, I am cognizant of the unspoken trauma, expectations, and toxicity that are present in these family dynamics.

This app seeks to supplement Rina Sawayama’s music, and hopefully can give families the vocabulary to speak about the issues that have largely gone unspoken for generations.
